
Tragedy unfolded on a Chicago street Friday morning, as gun violence claimed the life of a teenager and left a man fighting for his life in the hospital. According to ABC7 Chicago, the incident occurred at around 10:40 a.m. on the 2500 block of West 46th Street in the Brighton Park neighborhood, where a 16-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man were attacked, the assailant emerging from a vehicle before opening fire.
The boy, who suffered gunshot wounds to his head and chest was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead while the 40-year-old male victim, was also treated at Mount Sinai Hospital after sustaining chest and leg injuries and was, at last report, listed in grave condition. CBS News Chicago reported that no arrests have been made as of Friday afternoon, and the shooter's identity remains unknown, the violence of the morning leaving a community searching for answers in the wake of another young life lost.
As for now, the details surrounding the motive or circumstances leading up to the shooting are scarce.
Area 1 detectives are currently investigating the situation, per CBS News Chicago.
