In a somber development from east Orange County, a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot early Tuesday morning, a case that sheriff’s investigators are avidly pursuing. Deputies were called to the scene on the 1100 block of Easton Street, just before the clock struck 1 a.m., according to WFTV. The area, lying west of State Road 417 and in proximity to Millinocket Lane, was quickly cordoned off as law enforcement and a crime scene van arrived.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office confirmed the young victim was subsequently rushed to the hospital after being shot but lamentably succumbed to his injuries. A spokesperson for the OCSO assured there was not an ongoing public threat following the shooting, yet the details surrounding the tragic event are still shrouded in early investigative efforts, FOX 35 News reported a domestic nature to the call but this has not been further elaborated on.
All individuals involved in the incident reportedly remained at the scene, a fact that could suggest a contained event and possibly known relations between the parties, while the authorities haven't indicated any suspects on the run or a threat looming over the local community.
