Memphis Police Department (MPD) has arrested two suspects, an 18-year-old and a 13-year-old, charged with a series of violent crimes, including a deadly shooting at a Love's Travel Stop. According to a report by FOX13 Memphis, the suspects, Vontavious Muirhead and the unnamed teenager, were detained following a foot chase in Oakhaven. Charged with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, and property theft, their capture culminated after an alleged carjacking incident involving a Kia Sorento on July 2.

Further detailing the crimes, WREG Memphis explained that the two suspects are accused of a crime spree that purportedly left a man dead on July 2. After MPD responded to an auto theft in Woodlake Circle where the Sorento was initially stolen, just an hour later a shooting occurred at Love's on Lamar Avenue where a man was found and pronounced dead at the scene. Later the same day, a robbery was reported at an Exxon gas station on Winchester Road where victims were approached by three armed suspects who then fled in the red Kia Sorento.

The vehicle, linked to yet another robbery on Wind Meadow Lane that same day, was later spotted circling the area of Bishop Bridge yesterday. Attempts by officers to pull the car over resulted in a foot pursuit, during the chase, a handgun was thrown by the passenger. As relayed by Action News 5, both individuals were eventually taken into custody. The 13-year-old now faces charges including first-degree murder in the perpetration of an aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated robbery, and theft of property ranging between $10,000-$60,000.
