
Several teenagers led police on a chase across state lines from York County, SC, into Charlotte, NC, after allegedly stealing a car from the Huntersville area. The event unfolded on Monday when the stolen vehicle caught the attention of the York County Sheriff's Office, which initiated the pursuit. As reported by WBTV, the chase continued until heavy traffic conditions prompted the deputies to halt their pursuit for safety reasons.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's helicopter unit then took over, monitoring the vehicle from the air. According to Queen City News, the CMPD were able to successfully track down the stolen car and made an arrest in Charlotte. The vehicle involved in this interstate chase was initially reported stolen from the 10300 block of Wilmington Street in Huntersville between the overnight hours of July 13 and July 14.
The Huntersville Police Department has confirmed that the suspects involved are all juveniles. As conveyed by WCNC, these individuals and the victim of the car theft were not known to each other. Although an arrest has been made, Huntersville Police has indicated that the case remains an active investigation.
The suspects' identity and charges have not been publicly disclosed, consistent with protocols involving juvenile offenders.
