The Lone Star state shines a bit brighter in the nation’s economic sky as Texas Governor Greg Abbott trumpets new job numbers that position the state firmly at the forefront of American job creation over the past year. Boasting a surge in employment figures and labor force size, Abbott took to media outlets to highlight Texas' strong performance in the job market.
According to the statistics provided by the Texas Governor’s office, the state has set a new record with its labor force reaching a historic high of 15,311,500 people. On the employment front, Texas has never had more people working, including the self-employed, with the numbers hitting an all-time high of 14,694,500. These figures aren't just for show, as Texas tacked on an impressive 267,400 non-farm jobs from June 2023 to June 2024, leaving other states in the dust, and surpassing the national growth rate.
“More Texans are working than ever before as Texas again leads all states in annual job creation,” Abbott noted, as per the Office of the Texas Governor, weaving a narrative of a thriving business climate and a booming economy. This growth doesn't appear to be a fleeting trend either. The governor pointed out that under his leadership, the state has amassed nearly 2.4 million jobs since he took office. The influx of jobs is largely credited to Texas' approach towards fostering a conducive environment for businesses and investing in necessary parameters like education, workforce development, and infrastructure.
