The Michigan Lottery recently disclosed that three fortunate individuals from Wayne, Macomb, and Isabella counties are the latest winners of a substantial Fantasy 5 jackpot. The winning numbers, 08-17-18-24-29, were announced for the draw on July 12, resulting in a total of $697,974 to be divvied up among the trio of participants, each securing $232,658.
Among the winners is David Constantakis, a 68-year-old resident of Wayne County. He purchased his winning ticket at Family Fare, located on Forest Avenue in Frankfort. Constantakis was on a leisurely vacation and had bought the tickets before embarking on a canoe trip. In a statement obtained by The Detroit News, Constantakis shared his shock upon realizing his win: "When she got to the last two numbers, she said: ‘If we have 24 and 29, we are going to be sitting pretty!’ When I looked down at the ticket and confirmed those were my last two numbers, I was in awe.”
According to a report by ClickOnDetroit, he plans to pay off his home and allocate the rest of the funds to donations and savings.
The winner from Macomb County, who opted for anonymity, acquired her ticket from Groesbeck & Elizabeth Petro in Clinton Township. The third winner, hailing from Isabella County, also chose to remain unnamed, and, she purchased her ticket online through the Michigan Lottery's official platform, as disclosed by the MI Lottery Connect.
The Fantasy 5 game enables players to choose five numbers from a selection ranging from one to 39. Fantasy 5's regular drawings take place every day at 7:29 p.m., and tickets can be purchased up until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the draw through retailers or the official Michigan Lottery website.
