
A devastating vehicle collision claimed the lives of a Manteca woman and her child early Sunday morning in Livermore, with the child's father left fighting for his life, according to police reports. KCRA has confirmed that the single-car accident occurred just before 2:30 a.m. on South Vasco Road near Naylor Street; the vehicle involved was discovered in flames.
The aftermath of the crash was one fatality at the scene, a 24-year-old woman, and her 5-year-old daughter who succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital, police disclosed, during the same early hours emergency services pulled a 25-year-old man from the burning wreckage, he remains in critical condition at the hospital, all three were from Manteca and it has been suggested that the adults were in a relationship and the young girl was their daughter. CBS News Sacramento reported that the black Hyundai veered off the road after crossing through the intersection at Las Positas Road and collided with a tree, which is believed to have triggered the fire.
As of now, the cause of the traumatic event is still under scrutiny, and authorities have yet to determine whether driving under the influence played a role in the incident. The Alameda County coroner's office is expected to release the identities of the deceased once the necessary procedures are complete.
