A tragic end to a domestic dispute unfolded in Tucson after a man's girlfriend died jumping from his moving vehicle. Authorities charged William Holloway, 36, with multiple offenses including first-degree murder and kidnapping, escalating from what began as a distress call to the police on the evening of July 20.

Debra Murietta, 54, the victim, contacted law enforcement to report a domestic violence incident. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, she communicated to the 911 dispatcher that Holloway had ingested an 'illegal drug' and was driving recklessly towards Mount Lemmon, refusing to let her out of the car. In a desperate escape bid, Murietta eventually leaped from the vehicle during the ensuing police chase.

Pima County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to intercept the vehicle, with the chase reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour, as per Scripps News Tucson. The pursuit came to an end near Catalina Highway and Melpomene Way after Murietta's fatal action. She was critically injured and later succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital. Holloway's vehicle was later discovered with a flat tire and he was detained on Sunday.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed the arrest of Holloway, who is now facing charges that include first-degree homicide and domestic violence kidnapping.
