Early this morning, an incident involving a collision and subsequent injuries to two deputies took place on the North Freeway Service Road. Two deputies from Constable Mark Herman's office were responding to a suspicious vehicle situation around 1:52 a.m. when their marked patrol vehicle was struck by another driver, according to the Constable's Facebook post.
The driver, identified as Joshua Hines, showed signs of intoxication after colliding with the rear of the police vehicle, injuring the two deputies. Due to their injuries from the crash, the deputies were transported to a local hospital. They were later discharged and are on the road to recovery. The investigation did not include Standardized Field Sobriety Tests for Hines, as mentioned by the hospital transport due to the crash's impact.
A search warrant was executed allowing for the collection of a blood specimen from Hines. "Joshua Hines was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Intoxication Assault. His bond and court information have not been set at this time," Constable Mark Herman stated in the Facebook post.
