Earlier today, a single-vehicle rollover crash on Alligator Alley resulted in two individuals being hospitalized, sparking an active investigation into the incident. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials were quick to arrive at Mile Marker 33, where they discovered a black sedan overturned, as Local10 reported.
One of the passengers was found ejected from the vehicle and consequently, was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale for treatment. The second victim, suffering from serious injuries, was also taken to the hospital but via ground transportation, this information comes directly from Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, as WSVN stated.
The crash had a notable impact on traffic along the Alley, particularly in the westbound lanes where the rescue helicopter's need for a landing area temporarily halted the flow of vehicles. The lanes were subsequently reopened following the clearing of the accident scene. Both patients are reportedly stable, a relief in the wake to such potential tragedy, confirmed first responders.
Investigations into the circumstances that led to the vehicle losing control and flipping are ongoing. The names of the individuals involved, have not been released as of this report. Meanwhile, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue continues to work on piecing together the events that led to this harrowing incident, on what started as an ordinary day on Alligator Alley.
