On Monday afternoon, a significant car crash on Highway 14 in Vancouver resulted in a fiery scene and two individuals being hospitalized, one with critical injuries. The Vancouver Fire Department was called to the 15500 block of Highway 14, near the 164th Avenue exit, around 5 p.m. following reports of a two-vehicle collision.
According to KOIN, one of the vehicles involved rolled off the road several times and subsequently caught fire. The first fire engine to arrive discovered a severely damaged sedan on its side and engulfed in flames, with an adult male trapped inside.
As reported by KATU, Vancouver Fire Department called in extra resources such, as a Battalion chief, a second fire engine, and two ladder trucks with special extrication tools. The added fire crews managed to liberate the man from the wreckage by cutting off the roof of the sedan. After the extrication, which took about 25 minutes, he was transported to a local trauma center, presenting with multiple severe injuries, including burns and a leg injury that appeared to be substantial.
Meanwhile, KPTV described how the crash initially occurred with a car rolling multiple times off the road, leading to the catastrophic fire.
