Two suspects are now in custody in connection to a shooting in an Orlando neighborhood that left a young child and a man wounded, police said. The Orlando Police Department responded to the scene on the 700 block of South Oxalis Avenue on the afternoon of July 6, where they found a 45-year-old man suffering multiple gunshot wounds and a 4-year-old girl also struck by gunfire, they were transported to the hospital and are expected to recover. In addition to the injured, there were two other victims present at the time of the shooting who were not hit by bullets, according to ClickOrlando.
Local authorities have charged Marvin Antonio Paguanda Sanchez, who was apprehended at the shooting site, with tampering with physical evidence and two counts of accessory after the fact, according to WFTV, the second suspect Yasmi Lidieth Matamoros-Mendoza who fled the scene was located in Louisiana where U.S. Marshals captured her Matamoros-Mendoza, initially attempted to deceive the authorities with a false Mexican passport and ID before her real identity was uncovered and now faces a slew of charges including attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.
Video released by the police shows the harrowing moments leading up to the incident: individuals disembarking from a dark SUV approached a light gray truck containing the four victims and opened fire. Investigators believe the suspects could be tied to other criminal activities, potentially other robberies and shootings that have been terrorizing the community, painting a broader canvas of violence wherein these captured suspects possibly held the brush drenched in felonious intent, as detailed by WESH.
