The tranquility of a West Mifflin neighborhood was punctured by gunfire, leaving two teenagers wounded on a Monday evening in what marks yet another episode in the long, unfinished chronicle of gun violence afflicting our communities. According to WPXI, the incident occurred at the Mon View Heights Apartments, calling emergency crews to Midway Drive at approximately 5:45 p.m. where they discovered the injured parties.
With a promptness that befits the gravity of the event medics rushed the two teens to local hospitals, where reports indicate that one harbors life within the fragile cocoon of "stable" condition, while the other's breath flickers in the balance of "critical." As WTAE reported, the Allegheny County police, spearheaded by Superintendent Christopher Kearns, are spearheading the investigation into this shooting, though no suspects have, as of yet, been drawn into the light of justice.
Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
