
In a distressing incident emerging from Marshall County, a two-year-old child sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The shooting transpired shortly before midnight, within a private residence located at 14 Thornton Cove, Byhalia. According to WREG, during a heated argument between a man and a woman a firearm was discharged, with the bullet striking the toddler who was in bed at the time.
The child, now listed in extremely critical condition, is receiving care at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis while the circumstances surrounding this violent act are unraveled by the authorities; meanwhile, two adults believed to be linked to the event were taken into custody, their identities and any formal charges have yet to be crystallized. An investigator with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office told FOX13 Memphis, "the man picked up a gun and fired a shot which accidentally hit the two-year-old boy in the head".
The investigation remains ongoing as officials liaise with the district attorney to determine the appropriate response to this heart-wrenching event.
