Officials have cracked down on a human smuggling operation in Metro Detroit after agents witnessed a boat illegally crossing from Canada into the United States, resulting in the arrest of five individuals. On June 25, U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Marysville Station observed the vessel on the St. Clair River as it dropped off three passengers on the U.S. shoreline who then proceeded to quickly get into a waiting car. Further details were provided by an official statement on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, revealing the collaborative efforts between U.S. and Canadian law enforcement that led to the capture of the boat's pilot as he returned to Canada.
