The U.S. Coast Guard is presently engaged in a search operation for two divers reported missing near Matagorda, Texas. The search was instigated after Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders received a notification yesterday, with the divers last seen surfacing in "unfavorable weather conditions," approximately 15 miles offshore.
Efforts to locate the missing individuals have since intensified to include a stretch of sea and airspace. Air crews operating an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft from Air Station Corpus Christi have been deployed swiftly to join the search. A 45-foot Response boat medium from Station Port O’Connor, along with the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Edgar Culbertson, is also actively scanning the waters, according to information provided by FOX26 Houston.
As the search continues, the weather has reportedly cleared since the initial disappearance. However, there remains no sign of the missing divers. Members of the community or anyone with relevant information are urged to come forward and can do so by contacting Sector Corpus Christi at 1-800-874-2143, as KHOU reported.
