Described as a heavy-set man in his 30s with a curly beard, he was wearing all-black clothing and a beanie at the time of the assault, KTLA reports. After sexually assaulting the student, the assailant fled in a direction that remains unknown, leaving behind a campus grappling with safety concerns. While treated medically at the scene, the details of the victim's condition have not been disclosed.
UCLA students have expressed their shock and unease following the alert about the assault. "They sent the police report saying a girl was assaulted while sleeping which is very frightening, especially for me as a young woman," said UCLA student Chantal de la Cruz to KTLA.
