Drivers in Chester County might want to plan for a detour as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) gears up for base repair on a stretch of Church Road starting tomorrow, and it’s bound to affect your drive. The work will focus on the segment between 3rd Street and Polo Road in New Garden Township and Avondale Borough.
The construction is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, with the road closure effective from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on both days. This means travelers using this route should expect delays and give themselves some extra time to navigate the detour. PennDOT has mapped out an alternative path that redirects traffic along 3rd Street, Route 41 (Pennsylvania Avenue/Gap Newport Pike), Newark Road, and back onto Polo Road.
While Church Road is off-limits for through traffic, residents won't be left stranded; access for those living in the affected area will be maintained throughout the disruption. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, all this road work and the corresponding travel restrictions are, as always, contingent on the weather gods playing nice.
