Motorists in Elk Grove should be aware of upcoming disruptions to their normal commute, as the Elk Grove Police Department has advised that a key stretch of road will be closed for part of this week. According to a post by the Elk Grove Police Department on their Facebook page, the Union Pacific Railroad is set to perform repair work that necessitates the shutting down of a section of Sheldon Road at the railroad tracks starting tomorrow, July 24, stretching through to Friday, July 26.

The repairs, causing intermittently closures on Sheldon Road, will prompt drivers to find alternate routes. Traffic that normally travels east and west on Sheldon will need to divert to either Calvine or Bond Roads via Power Inn Road. Already busy with their own flows of traffic, these roads will now, even for just a spell, carry the burden of Sheldon's redirected journeyers.

Elk Grove PD recommends that those who travel on these affected roads should plan for the potential delays. Maintenance of infrastructure, particularly when it involves the railways that crisscross our city with the regularity of a heartbeat, is essential but often an inconvenience. While the work is important, it does pose temporary challenges for daily commuters.
