On Sunday, a routine traffic violation rapidly escalated into a high-stakes chase in Vallejo. Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division officers spotted a white Mercedes Benz failing to stop at a road sign at approximately 6:25 P.M., launching a pursuit that temporarily halted on Amador Street for a felony stop before the suspects fled again. According to the Vallejo Police Department, the chase ended up at Colusa Street's dead-end, where the driver and three passengers abandoned the car, attempting to escape on foot into John Finney High School premises quickly.
The situation took a serious turn when officers reported having seen two individuals armed with handguns during the pursuit. They worked hastily to establish a secure perimeter alongside mutual aid from several neighboring law enforcement agencies, as detailed by the Vallejo Police Department. The Vallejo Police report suggested that the Napa Sheriff's Office, American Canyon PD, California Highway Patrol, and Solano County Sheriff's Office responded to the call for assistance. A search inside the white Mercedes revealed two more firearms, contributing to the gravity of the incident.
The four suspects were eventually located and detained after an extensive high school search. The driver, a 17-year-old juvenile, and the passengers—19, 21, and 18 years of age, respectively, and all from Vallejo—were found to have prior felony convictions. In a particularly concerning discovery, two of the handguns seized were equipped with so-called Glock switches, illegally modifying them to fire fully automatically. At the same time, a recovered rifle lacked a serial number, which is characteristic of a "Ghost Gun."
In the aftermath of the arrest, Vallejo Police expressed their "gratitude to our law enforcement partners for their assistance with this apprehension," as stated by the Vallejo Police Department. The adult suspects were booked into the Solano County Jail, while the juvenile's guardians were notified, and he was booked into the Solano County Juvenile Detention Facility. Additional investigation linked two of the firearms with high-capacity magazines to previous thefts, emphasizing the potential danger that had been averted. For further inquiries, Sgt.
