A harrowing chase and shootout followed by a tense standoff with law enforcement unfolded in DeLand, Florida, involving a stolen purse and its determined owner. According to FOX 35 Orlando, the incident began when a woman discovered her purse had been taken from her car at the Taylor Place Apartments early Thursday morning. She later received a notification of her credit card being used at a nearby Checkers drive-thru, where she confronted three individuals and managed to retrieve her purse and credit card.
The situation escalated as the three suspects, attempting to elude the woman, discharged a firearm from their moving vehicle after she began to tail them—fortunately, no injuries were reported. As reported by WFTV, following the retrieval of her belongings, she was persistent in noting their license plate and phoning emergency services as the suspects fled the scene with her in active pursuit.
The trio involved in the alarming sequence of theft and violence were later identified as Willie Goosby, Makhi Edwards, and Alyssa Levy. Deputies found them in a standoff situation after authorities located the getaway car linked to the registration address.
Ultimately, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office apprehended the suspects where charges were pressed; Goosby, Edwards, and Levy are facing aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, further complicated by Edwards, who also incurs the burden of an additional charge for violating juvenile probation.
