Westminster residents were struck with unsettling news as the Maryland State Police announced the arrest of a local man tied to a grim incident over the weekend. According to Maryland State Police reports, 50-year-old Matthew Glowacki was taken into custody in connection with the death of Miriam Glowacki, whose life was tragically cut short in what is now being investigated as a homicide.
On what began as an ordinary Saturday, troopers from the Westminster Barrack were dispatched to a home on the 1200 block of Ridge Road responding to signs of distress they discovered a scene that would soon evoke collective mourning, Miriam, 45, was found bearing the brunt of multiple stab wounds. Despite a swift journey to Carroll County Hospital Center, her story was to find its conclusion, pronounced deceased upon arrival. Matthew Glowacki stood amidst the tapestry of unanswered questions tying him to the scene when investigators converged upon the residence. Crime Scene Technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division collected the traces of truth that would point their accusations in his direction.
The suspect now faces second-degree murder charges and has been placed in the Carroll County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. The autopsy reports cemented the belief that this was no mere accident but the result of deliberate infliction.
