Curiosity about police operations can finally be addressed this August when the Winter Garden Police Department opens its doors for the nine-week Citizens Police Academy. Starting August 7, locals can participate in a series of Wednesday evening sessions from 6 - 9 pm, where they will gain insights into various aspects of police work, including crime prevention and the intricacies of investigations, as detailed by the City of Winter Garden.

The program, which is free of charge, is set to unfold in the training room of the Winter Garden Police Department located at 251 W. Plant Street. Open to those who are at least 18 years old, live or work in the City of Winter Garden, and have a clean criminal record.

According to information published by the city, the program will cover a gamut of topics, presented by crime-fighting professionals themselves. From defense tactics to the step-by-step breakdown of how investigations are conducted.

Applications are currently being accepted, and those interested can learn more by clicking here or visiting the Winter Garden Police Department in person. For further questions, Officers Gail Michaud and Timothy Thatford are available at 407.656.3636 ext. 5416 to aid in clarifying any uncertainties about the program.
