Authorities reported an altercation that led to the arrest of a woman in the 15000 block of Philippine Street yesterday. According to the Facebook page of Constable Mark Herman's Office, deputies encountered a disturbance that quickly escalated when a female suspect, later identified as Mayra Rupert, became combative and did not comply with verbal commands.
During the attempt to detain her, Rupert allegedly resisted and assaulted a deputy, inflicting pain and visible injury. The standoff ended when the deputy deployed her Taser, allowing for Rupert's safe detainment. "Mayra Rupert was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Assault on Peace Officer," Constable Mark Herman's Office stated. The incident is said to have occurred on July 20, but details have surfaced following the constable's social media update.
Following the arrest, Rupert's bond was reportedly set at $5,000.00, processed by the 176th District Court. The precise circumstances leading up to the disturbance and subsequent assault have not been disclosed.
