Authorities have apprehended a 39-year-old Worcester man on charges related to drug trafficking and the possession of child pornography, drawing a stark line under the ongoing battle against such heinous crimes. On Tuesday morning, officers from multiple specialized units including the Human Trafficking Unit, Fugitive Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, and the Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Unit arrested Michael J. Cox at his residence on S Edlin Street in response to a warrant issued out of Dorchester District Court, as detailed in a report by Boston Police Department.
In the execution of the warrant which included charges of Possession of Child Pornography, Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor, and Enticement of a Child under 16, officers made their presence known and were met by Cox; upon his answering the door he was swiftly handcuffed, and during a search incident to his arrest officers discovered a plastic bag containing crystal methamphetamine, and two glass pipes, this according to the police department's statement. The premises were subsequently secured while a search warrant was obtained to initiate a more thorough investigation of Cox's apartment.
Later that afternoon, the execution of the search warrant yielded a more extensive array of contraband. Law enforcement recovered various packages of methamphetamine totaling an approximate weight of 462 grams, as well as drug paraphernalia in the form of multiple glass pipes, three cell phones, five hard drives, and two laptops, items that paint a troubling picture of the suspect's alleged activities, per the official release from the police.
