Worcester police made a substantial seizure yesterday morning, intercepting a machine gun and a quantity of drugs. Acting on a search warrant, the Worcester Police Vice Squad tracked down the suspect, 53-year-old Natasha Perry, as she left her Florence Street residence and drove off in a black BMW. The operation culminated in Perry being stopped by police at the intersection of Chandler and Irving Streets and subsequently detained, as reported by the Worcester Police Department.
Upon searching Perry’s vehicle and the residence, officers uncovered an array of illicit items. They found a Masterpiece Arms MAC-10-style machine gun, equipped with an extended magazine and a box of ammunition. Not stopping there, the search further revealed a substantial stash of what is believed to be crack cocaine, along with various drug paraphernalia and materials for packaging. According to the Worcester Police Department, Perry does not hold a firearm license or a permit for a machine gun.
For her alleged offenses, Perry faces multiple charges, including Possession of a Machine Gun, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute, among others. The situation highlights the kind of risk the Worcester Police Department encounters on a regular basis. Following the apprehension, Interim Chief Saucier expressed deep concern for the safety challenges such discoveries represent. "The recovery of this machine gun shows the dangers the men and woman of the Worcester Police Department face daily. No tour of duty is routine, especially when officers are executing search warrants to rid our neighborhoods of guns and drugs," he said, as noted in the Worcester Police report.
The efforts of the vice squad officer's use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, which have now resulted in getting a dangerous weapon off the street, have not gone unnoticed. Commending the professionalism and commitment of the team, Chief Saucier added, "I would like to thank the officers for their professionalism and dedication to getting guns off the streets and keeping the community safe," as mentioned in the same press release.
