A worker trapped in a trench during a Tuesday morning mishap in Phoenix was rescued due to the combined efforts of witnesses and local fire departments. The incident occurred near 113th Drive and Indian School Road, where, according to FOX 10 Phoenix, "Nearby witnesses, which are believed to be possible coworkers, were able to successfully dig him out," stated Phoenix Fire Capt. Shaun Dubois.
Intervening before the arrival of emergency responders, those at the scene took it upon themselves to commence rescue operations. Trapped and unable to free himself from the trench where he was working, it was only through the collective action of the immediate bystanders that the man saw reprieve from his entrapment. Details on the depth of the trench or the specific nature of the man's work have not been disclosed.
Consequently, a coalition of firefighters from various local departments, including Phoenix, Tolleson, and Avondale, further ensured the man's extraction from peril. 12 News reports that the firefighters assisted in the extrication process, following the preliminary digging conducted by those present during the accident.
Post-rescue, the worker's health status was described as stable, and he was transported to a hospital, ostensibly as a measure of caution. The Phoenix Fire Department maintained that while the man may be taken to the hospital, his condition remained steady and showed no overt signs of grave distress.
