A tragic incident occurred on State Road 60 Tuesday afternoon when a wrong-way crash resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to five others, in Osceola County. According to WESH, an SUV from Wisconsin, carrying a man and a woman, was struck near the Lake Kissimmee South Boat Ramp. Subsequently, a third car became involved in the incident after the initial collision.
The events unfolded around 12:22 p.m. when a Chevy Silverado traveling westbound crossed the median and collided nearly head-on with an eastbound Honda CRV. A Lexus ES, trailing the Honda, was unable to avoid the wreckage and collided with the CRV before hitting a guardrail. The Florida Highway Patrol indicated that the pair from Wisconsin, a 68-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman, were pronounced dead, one at the scene and the other at a hospital respectively, as detailed by ClickOrlando.
Further details, the third occupant of the Honda was an 84-year-old woman from Largo, who sustained serious injuries. Mirroring this, the 45-year-old male driver of the Chevy and the 36-year-old female passenger reported minor injuries, and another passenger, a 77-year-old woman, was also seriously injured. All occupants of the Chevy were from Fort Lauderdale. The young driver of the Lexus, a 19-year-old from Port St. Lucie, sustained minor injuries.
