A tragic incident unfolded in Sanford this past Saturday night, as a young man was shot and killed over a pair of headphones. According to the WFTV, Brandon Leo, age 22, was waiting in his pickup truck to sell a headphone when he was fatally shot. The Sanford Police Department reports that the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. near West 3rd Street and Pomegranate Avenue.
Investigators described the sequence of events: at least two unidentified persons approached Leo's vehicle, attempting to engage with him. As Leo began reversing out of the driveway, multiple gunshots rang out. The truck, still in reverse, ended up in a nearby retention pond where it was later discovered by the police. Sanford officers found Leo's body within the partially submerged vehicle, reported ClickOrlando.
"A family is grieving the loss of their son over a pair of headphones," Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said. "Senseless doesn’t begin to describe this tragedy." Smith remarked in a prepared statement that the police are tirelessly working to track down the assailants, who seem to have "no regard for the value of a human life", as reported by ClickOrlando.
The Sanford Police Department is actively seeking information from the public that could lead to an arrest in this case.
