A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery in Dorchester, marking yet another troubling instance of youth crime in the city. The Boston Police Department reported that officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call around 4:16 PM on Sunday, at 86 Southern Avenue, where a robbery was reportedly underway.

According to the official statement from the Boston Police, a group of individuals allegedly accosted a person for their moped, one of the assailants, suspected to be the youth now in custody, appeared to be armed by the way he gripped his waistband which provoked fear in the victim, the moped was then forcibly taken but subsequently crashed and amidst the chaos, a second suspect allegedly snatched the victim's bag.

The officers on scene pursued the suspects fleeing the scene and observed the teenager apprehended grasping his waistband again as he ran, they gave chase eventually catching up when the suspect discarded what was later identified as a large kitchen knife over a fence. The juvenile, whose identity has not been released due to his age, was detained and now faces a charge of Delinquent to wit; Armed Robbery.

He is slated for arraignment in Dorchester District Court, the Boston Police Department has not indicated whether they have custody of, or are still pursuing the accomplices including the individual who made off with the victim's bag, investigations continue as the community grapples with the implications of youth involved in such stark acts of crime.
