A recent incident in Whitehaven has resulted in the arrest and charging of a 19-year-old named Nicholas Caldwell. According to WREG, Caldwell faces charges of aggravated assault following the shooting of a woman's vehicle over 30 times on Sunday. The authorities responded to an aggravated assault call on Berta Road, where the victim reported being unintentionally embroiled in what she described as 15 gunshots. These shots, seemingly coming from nowhere, left three bullets embedded in her car and caused a graze wound to her chest.
Further into their investigation, the police discovered 31 shell casings from rifles and handguns at the crime scene. Caldwell's next court date has been scheduled for Tuesday morning. The shooting aftermath saw the Memphis Police Department (MPD) responding to a disturbance call a few hours later, which led to the detainment of Caldwell along with Jamarcus Bates. As stated in a report by FOX13 Memphis, the encounter occurred on the same road, and the witness pointed out Caldwell and Bates as the alleged gunmen earlier in the day.
In the course of a search conducted in Caldwell's living quarters, the police reported recovering parts to a disassembled Glock Switch, which can convert a handgun into an automatic weapon, along with various ammunition rounds. This evidence was found before both suspects were charged with aggravated assault and later taken to Juvenile court, as indicated by News Talk 989. Caldwell is currently held on a $200,000 bond following his arrest.
