According to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, the young man was hit by a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder around 11:48 p.m., after he entered the roadway near the 10700 block of Route 14. The vehicle, which was headed northbound, struck the pedestrian who was suspected to be under the influence at the time of, the crash.

The 19-year-old sustained critical injuries and was consequently airlifted to Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside for treatment. The driver and the passenger of the Nissan Pathfinder were reportedly uninjured in the crash, as detailed by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Emergency services, including the Harvard Fire Protection District and REACT Helicopter, responded promptly to the incident.
