
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting incident. On Monday, at around 8:25 p.m., police were called to the scene of a shooting on the 3000 block of Stanton Road, Southeast, where they found two male victims with gunshot wounds.
Tragically, one of the victims, identified as 19-year-old Vonte Martin from Southeast D.C., succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene, while the other male was taken to hospital for emergency care by DC Fire and EMS. As stated in a press release by the Metropolitan Police Department, the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under review by investigators.
As of now, details regarding the motive or potential suspects in the shooting remain undisclosed. The Metropolitan Police Department is urging members of the community with any information pertinent to the shooting to come forward. In connection with this case, the Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that can lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this, or any other homicide in the District of Columbia.
