Breaking news out of Baltimore, as police have made an arrest in connection to a deadly shooting that occurred earlier this year in the Northern District. 20-year-old Davonte Hamlett is now facing first-degree murder charges for the May 5 incident, which resulted in the death of Sherman Anderson, 25, and left another man, aged 26, injured. The Baltimore Police Department secured an arrest warrant on June 6 after detectives identified Hamlett as the suspect, a pressing revelation that took a month to surface after the crime disrupted the community's night with violence.
According to a recently published advisory by the Baltimore Police Department, Hamlett was apprehended by Warrant Apprehension detectives on August 6 and subsequently transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, they linked him to the events that transpired on the 3300 block of Reisterstown Road, where the deadly encounter unfolded.
The initial incident took place in the early morning hours of May 5, when police first discovered the two victims, presenting their wounds as silent testaments to the gunfire that struck them down. The 25-year-old Anderson succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital while the subsequent fate of the second victim, now known to have crossed paths with misfortune at the tender age of 26.
