
A 26-year-old Bridgewater man, identified as Nicholas Miller, was fatally shot during the early hours of Saturday morning in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The incident, which is currently being investigated as a homicide, occurred around 12:45 a.m. near 36 Acushnet Ave., WHDH reports.
Upon arrival, first responders found Miller with a gunshot wound and swiftly transported him to St. Luke's Hospital. Despite efforts to save his life, Miller was pronounced dead shortly after, with the time of death being reported as approximately 2:42 a.m., according to a statement from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, NBC Boston articulates.
The New Bedford Police Department and Massachusetts State Police detectives are leading the investigation into the shooting, with no further details immediately available regarding the circumstances surrounding the violent event. Authorities confirmed, that the probe into Miller's death is active and ongoing, and have not disclosed additional information to the public at this time, WPRI notes.
Reports leading up to the discovery of Miller mentioned calls to 911 about males fighting and, an apparent gunshot, according to the district attorney's office. However, forthcomings about those involved, or potential suspects, have yet to emerge as the authorities maintain a tight perimeter around the facts of the case pending the results of their inquiries, as NBC Boston stated.
