Police have apprehended 28-year-old Anthony Rollans in connection with a recent homicide in Las Vegas. After an intensive investigation led by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Section, Rollans was located and taken into custody by the Criminal Apprehension Team on August 20. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's press release, he is currently facing open murder charges and has been booked in absentia at the Clark County Detention Center.
The arrest stems from a tragic incident reported on August 12, when Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a shooting on Palos Verdes Street, only to later find a male victim with a gunshot wound in a vehicle stopped on Calcaterra Circle. The victim was rushed to Sunrise Hospital; however, he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. Investigators continued to thoroughly gather evidence, which ultimately led them to quickly identify and take Rollans into custody.
The Criminal Apprehension Team, a multi-jurisdictional task force that includes the FBI, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Henderson, and North Las Vegas Police Departments and operates under the Major Violators Bureau, was key in securing the arrest of the suspect. While the initial press release mentioned that a female was seen running from the scene of the shooting, her involvement remains unclear as the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities have urged anyone with further information to come forward. They are specifically reaching out to those who might have seen or known anything that could shed light on this case. Witnesses can confidentially contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section directly by phone or email, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Nevada. As the Clark County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the identification of the victim or the official cause and manner of death.
