
A 69-year-old man is fighting for his life in critical condition after a documented carjacking attempt turned violent in Highland Park, Los Angeles, in the earliest hours of Tuesday morning, as reported by ABC7. The Los Angeles Police Department indicated that the incident occurred around 12:05 a.m. near Marmion Way and Figueroa Street, where the victim was stopped at a light and was confronted by a 19-year-old male who demanded his truck.
The tense standoff between the alleged carjacker and the victim ended with gunshots after the 69-year-old refused to comply with the suspect's demands; the assailant fired three bullets, police said, and at least one of those bullets pierced the windshield of the truck, detailed NBC Los Angeles, which also featured a correction from an earlier misreporting of the victim's age. After being shot, the victim made his way to a shopping center contacted police, and was then transported to hospital's care where he remains in critical condition.
