An Akron teenager became the latest statistic in a string of senseless acts of violence after being shot early this morning. According to Cleveland19, the 15-year-old was riding a scooter when an unknown assailant opened fire around 12:35 a.m. in the 2000 block of 13th St. SW. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.
Officers arrived on the scene to find multiple shell casings and provided first aid to the injured teen, "officers provided first aid until EMS arrived", as Akron Police Cpt. Michael Miller mentioned in a statement obtained by Cleveland19. The local EMS subsequently rushed the teen to hospital, where the patient's current condition remains unknown.
Fox8's coverage, which cited police sources, indicated that the victim had been found shot multiple times inside a home, which he presumably reached after being targeted in the street. The Fox8 report also confirmed that the Akron Police Department is actively investigating the shooting but has not yet released the boy’s identity as they continue their search for answers.
The Akron Beacon Journal provided additional details, noting that the shooting occurred while the victim was on his scooter on 13th Street SW. Recovering after being shot by an unknown suspect, emergency first aid was given to the victim outside the residence when officers arrived, as described in a statement obtained by Beacon Journal.
