When deputies from the office of Constable Mark Herman responded to a vehicle burglary report on the Northwest Freeway this Thursday, the swift paw of the law was not far behind. According to a Facebook post by Precinct 4, a suspect vehicle was spotted exiting a parking lot, leading to a chase when the driver, identified as Danaya Pope, refused to stop for officials.
The incident rapidly spiraled as two passengers, Quadarian McClain and an unnamed juvenile, began to jettison what turned out to be about $1,000 in stolen tools from their moving vehicle in what could only be a desperate attempt to lighten their load or ditch the evidence, once the suspects brought their vehicle to a halt, they fled on foot into a nearby apartment complex, with K9 Officer Tejas Briones hot on their heels, the three alleged culprits were subsequently tracked down and detained, this thanks in part to HPD Air Support.
With the suspects now in custody, the Harris County law enforcement has charged Danaya Pope with a series of offenses, including Evading in Motor Vehicle, Burglary of Motor Vehicle, and Theft. As for McClain and the juvenile, they are facing charges of Evading Arrest and Detention, Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, and Theft—and while their bond and court dates are pending, the property has been recovered and returned, "They were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail," Constable Mark Herman was quoted, outlining the charges against the trio.
