A Jefferson County jury has found Andre Deshawn Jones guilty of the attempted murder of Wheat Ridge Police Officer Allan Fischer. The incident occurred in April 2022 when Officer Fischer was responding to a crashed U-Haul truck when he was attacked and stabbed multiple times by Jones.
The trial lasted six days and culminated in a jury deliberation of under four hours. According to the First Judicial District Attorney's Office, Jones was convicted of several charges, including a Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder in the Second Degree and Assault in the First Degree with the intention to cause serious bodily injury using a deadly weapon. Additionally, he was found guilty of Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft in the First Degree, along with Resisting Arrest.
The violent encounter left Officer Fischer with wounds to his neck, chest, and back. The motivation behind Jones's actions was not detailed in the reports. Sentencing for Jones has been scheduled for October 10 at 8:30 AM, and he will face the consequences of his actions on that fateful day.
