The City of Arlington is gearing up for the Labor Day holiday, with a host of municipal office closures and service schedule changes set for Monday, Sept. 2. According to the City of Arlington, standard operations such as residential garbage and recycling collection will be paused for the day, affecting residents citywide.
All municipal offices, including City Hall and other government buildings, will be closed, as will specialized services like the Handitran office and Handitran special transportation services. In line with holidays past, garbage and recycling pick-up will not occur, on Monday with the Arlington Landfill also taking a day off. Residents should anticipate all curbside collection services to be delayed by a day throughout the following week.
Despite the closures, several recreational and sporting facilities will remain open for the public to enjoy. The City of Arlington lists family aquatic centers, golf courses, and the Arlington Tennis Center among the venues that will keep their doors open, albeit with some modified hours.
While the pause in services like waste collection may disrupt the weekly rhythm for some, city officials have ensured that the changes are temporary. Commercial garbage and recycling collection will get back on its regular schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 3, and residential services will resume their normal pace starting Monday, Sept. 9. Meanwhile, city pools and splash pads offer respite from the heat, with details on specific operating hours available through the city's website.
