The vibrant entrepreneurial spirit of Arlington shines through with Siara’s MedSpa, a local family-operated business that has transformed from a mere hair salon into a full-service med spa over twenty years. Cecilia Gonzales, the founder, took over the space in 2008 when the previous owner retired, offering her the business as a gesture of goodwill for years of loyalty, as per the City of Arlington. The establishment, now run by Cecilia and her daughter, Siara Gonzales, recently rebranded to Siara’s Med Spa, reflecting their expanded scope of services which include lasering, botox, and fillers.
Initially renting a space and cleaning the salon after hours Cecilia Gonzales began her entrepreneurial journey. As cited by the City of Arlington, her work ethic and dedication eventually paid off when she took ownership of the salon, "She told me that she was ready to retire, and she wanted me to run the salon," Cecilia recalled in an interview, "But when I told her it was too expensive, she said ‘You stayed with me, and I want you to have the place.’" It seems that the baton of business is being passed on as Siara, who initially had reservations about joining the business, discovered her passion for it while managing the spa during her mother's absence. According to the same interview, Siara said, "I think it’s cool working with my mom now. She’s taught me everything I know."
As part of Small Business Promotion Week, which runs from August 26 - 30, the City of Arlington encourages the community to learn more about local enterprises like Siara’s MedSpa online or through social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. The City’s Planning and Development Service Department is celebrating small businesses with various activities including providing refreshments and bottled water for customers visiting the Small Business Promotion table. This initiative is part of the city of Arlington's broader effort to spotlight East Arlington small businesses throughout the year 2024.
