An incident unfolded in the small community of Ash Fork, Arizona, where a 16-year-old girl was arrested on charges related to a fatal hit-and-run incident. In the early hours of Saturday morning, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a scene where a woman was struck by a car at around 3 a.m. along 4th Street and Park Avenue. Despite attempts at life-saving procedures by the responders, 47-year-old Erica Miller was pronounced dead at the scene, as ABC15 reported.
The investigation took a turn when the sheriff's office received an unexpected call from a woman claiming her 16-year-old daughter had just been involved in a crash. Upon arriving at the woman's residence, law enforcement found a significantly damaged vehicle and subsequently made contact with the teenage driver and her passenger. "Deputies went to the home and found a vehicle with significant damage, and made contact with the teen driver and her passenger," as ABC15 detailed. The authorities' preliminary assessment indicated that the teenager was involved in the fatal accident and was believed to be impaired at the time.
12 News reports that the arrested teenager is now facing multiple felony charges, including negligent homicide, manslaughter, aggravated assault, and underage DUI. "The girl is facing charges with multiple felonies including negligent homicide, manslaughter, aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an injury accident, excessive speed, reckless driving, accident resulting in death and underage DUI." Additional DUI charges are pending the results of blood tests.
