An employee of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, not an officer but a member of the bureau's staff, has been detained in Montgomery County on multiple counts related to child pornography. Identified as Garrett Anderson Wilson, the individual faces serious allegations including possession and intent to promote child pornography.
Officials from Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable's Office shared with ABC 13 that the suspect is an administrative support employee within the ATF. Wilson's bond for the possession with intent to promote charges was set at $30,000, as per jail records. However, details regarding his overall employment status following the arrest remain ambiguous.
In response to the charges, the ATF released a statement, expressing the gravity with which it takes allegations of this nature. "ATF takes allegations of criminal misconduct seriously," the federal agency told Houston Chronicle. "ATF employees are held to a high standard of conduct and are expected to maintain the highest ethics in both their professional and private lives."
Currently, Wilson is housed in the Montgomery County Jail. The specific details concerning the nature of the illicit material Wilson allegedly possessed were not disclosed.
