According to the official news release, after being transported to a local hospital, Arroyo was pronounced deceased two days later, on August 17. The crash also resulted in the hospitalization of the occupants of a second vehicle, though their injuries were thankfully not life-threatening. The occupants of the three other vehicles involved in the incident escaped uninjured but, the collision remains under investigation by the Vehicular Homicide Unit of the APD.

This incident brings the year's toll to 60 fatalities, slightly down compared to the 62 fatalities by this same date in 2023, from 59 fatal crashes. The Austin Police Department continues its investigation into the crash and has appealed to the public for any useful information through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program.
