In a somber turn of events, autopsy results have been released for Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander, the two Georgia firefighters whose lives ended in tragedy across state lines. According to the autopsy findings released, Anderson, aged 24, shot Kuhbander, also 24, before turning the gun on herself. A note left in Anderson's vehicle, which was discovered with their bodies in Cocke County, Tennessee, included an apology and Anderson's final farewell to her grandmother, as Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
Previously reported missing in Liberty County, the pair were last seen together at the Liberty County Fire Services Station #1 in Midway, Georgia, on June 25. Kuhbander's mother, reflecting the complicated relationship dynamics, posted on social media that Anderson was not a bad person, but had issues, and her son was likely trying to assist her. While she initially stated her son did not leave with Anderson of his own free will, she later indicated Anderson to be a danger to herself. After their disappearance, authorities found Kuhbander's vehicle parked in Savannah and eventually located Anderson's vehicle, where they found an argument had ensued between the couple only days prior, following Kuhbander's interruption on a date at an Olive Garden, a detail obtained by Fox 5 Atlanta.
The Regional Forensic Center's autopsy report detailed the grim reality of the situation; Anderson kidnapped the ex-boyfriend and shot him twice in the upper back near the neck, which resulted in Kuhbander's death, ruled as a homicide. Anderson's death, with a gunshot wound to her head, was ruled a suicide. The car was found parked in the woods on personal property in Cocke County, 11Alive reflected on the findings.
Further investigation is being conducted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. They have yet to release any additional details surrounding the circumstances that led to this heartbreaking outcome. The apologies Anderson wrote in the note, found in the vehicle, mournfully underscore the finality of the moment. "Tell her how sorry I am. I love you, Nanna. I want her to inherit everything," Anderson expressed in the note, according to a Fox 5 Atlanta report.
