
A tragic incident unfolded over the weekend in Fells Point, resulting in the death of a 74-year-old man. David Philpot, who was assaulted following an altercation with an unidentified man, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning. The assault took place on Saturday around 2:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of Eastern Avenue. According to WMAR2 News, Baltimore police are actively seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect connected to the violent act. On Sunday night, police released images of the man believed to be involved in hopes that someone could provide information about his identity.
Fox45 obtained exclusive footage of the moments leading up to the assault. The video, which has added another layer of context to this story, reveals the suspect petting Philpot’s dog, Chip, seconds before the altercation occurred. After the incident, Philpot was rushed to a local hospital for treatment but did not survive the following day. "The nicest guy on the planet. You can tell that he values live and enjoys himself," Caleb Shuey, Philpot's friend, who arrived minutes after the attack, stated, as per FOX Baltimore report.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is tasked with determining the precise cause of death.
