Following a disturbing incident of violence that took place in the Southern District, Baltimore police have taken a man into custody in connection to a homicide that rattled the community earlier this month. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Paul Artis from Baltimore, stands accused of the fatal shooting of 38-year-old Ondrell Mayo, as reported by the Baltimore Police Department.
On August 1, officers were alerted to the sound of gunshots on the 900 block of East Patapsco Avenue, where they discovered Mayo with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the swift response of medics, Mayo's injuries proved to be fatal. Since then, investigators have worked to piece together the circumstances leading up to his death, a task that culminated in the arrest of Artis.
According to the Baltimore Police Department's press release, Artis was charged with first-degree murder following his surrender at the Baltimore Police headquarters on August 6.
