Authorities are currently investigating a shooting and an attempted carjacking that occurred on the evening of August 3 in Baltimore's Southwestern District. According to the Baltimore Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of West Lombard St. around 7:20 p.m. after reports of the incident were received.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officers learned that a 16-year-old female had been shot after a man attempted to forcibly take control of the car she was in. The assailant, described as wearing a black ski mask and brandishing a black handgun, demanded that the victim and two other individuals exit the vehicle. The victim managed to quickly reverse and drive away, but not before the suspect fired shots, hitting her.
The victim suffered from a gunshot wound that was not expected to be life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital by medics for treatment. The Baltimore Police Northern District detectives have since taken over the inquiry. Further details about the suspect or the current condition of the victim were not immediately available.
The department has now appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could lead to a resolution in this case.
