A 39-year-old man from Battle Creek was hospitalized earlier today following a shooting incident in the Post Franklin neighborhood, according to multiple reports. The shooting took place around 2 a.m. near the corner of Cliff Street and Mott Street, WOODTV reported. Battle Creek Police Department officers responded to the reported gunfire and located the wounded man, who was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
While details on his injuries were not fully divulged, WWMT reported the man sustained gunshot wounds to the arm, and torso and is expected to make a recovery. Amidst the investigation, the authorities have yet to pinpoint a suspect, and no suspect information has been disclosed at this time. Urging anyone with information to step forward, the Battle Creek Police Department calls on the public to assist by contacting them directly or through Silent Observer.
FOX 17 News added that despite the severity of the wound, which was life-threatening at onset, the man was listed in stable condition post admission to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. Law enforcement officials have stated that they do not believe the shooting to be a broader threat to the community, classifying it instead as an "isolated shooting incident." The Emmett Township Department of Public Safety, Battle Creek Fire Department, and LifeCare Ambulance also rendered aid at the scene.
